April 30

April 30
Release Date: April 30, 2010
Croix's first completely instrumental album, April 30, was recorded with almost the entirity of his ensemble (sans some of the latest additions to the group) live in a studio with a dozen mics running simultaneously. Meant to be a kind of sister album of the upcoming double live album, Evil at Bourbon Street. Both were mixed and recorded with similar experimental techniques.
The title is a reference to Roger Zelazny's novel, The Trumps of Doom, wherein an assassination attempt is made on the life of the protagonist, Merlin, every April 30. The album, however, is not directly based on the novel in any way, only the mood and implications of the title are incorporated.
